Olga Chernyshevsa

Photographs from Moscow

Thank you to Harriet Quick for a great article in this week end's FT on Russia's winter florals.

Thank you to Pace London where these images are on show until Jan17th 2015.

The artist has been quotes as saying that in Russia middle aged women wear these woolen bobble hats to survive the cold but also to attract attention or 'energy'.  'Like winter flowers...cactus blossoms..' She took the shots without asking and imagined the daydreaming that was occurring inside these globelike forms.

Chernyshevsa, writes Qick, trained at the Russian State University as a cinematographer and represented thecountry in the 2001 Venice Biennale.

What a great way to start the week end , these happy winter images are the best seasonal  addition to the blog .
